There seems to be a trick to getting this working in the iframe - type a character, delete it, then start to type again. When the page is embedded in this wasy, it's as if the service needs to be woken up by a deleted character.
When you visit the page normally (e.g. from Google Suggest, the suggestions start as soon as you start typing.
